Research shows that the earlier you visit Career Exploration and Success (CES), the better a students’ career outcomes post-graduation. Planning for a  future can be both challenging and rewarding, but CES has resources to assist students in discovering themselves, exploring careers and majors, developing skills, and pursuing goals.

CES works hard to market resources, programs, and initiatives to the over 45,000 Rutgers–New Brunswick student population, but according to Nielsen Holdings Inc. an information, data, and measurement company, “83% of consumers trust recommendations from their peers over advertising.” To stay relevant, Career Exploration and Success aspires to build trust, authenticity, and credibility here on campus through peer-to-peer recommendations. Through their marketing efforts, collaborations with key partners, and peer-to-peer recommendations, CES have increased student engagement through programs, resources, and services from 31% to 73% since 2013.

Career Exploration and Success has greatly impacted the career journey of many students on-campus. Hear recommendations from a few of Rutgers’ very own students below.

Students interested taking the next step to post-graduation success can schedule a career advising appointment, stop by resume critique drop-in hours, attend a career and internship fair, or activate the free 24/7 career management account, Rutgers Handshake.

“Using Career Services has been incredibly beneficial to me because it’s really helped me to seek out what I’m truly interested in, it’s helped me to develop a long-term career plan for myself, and more importantly it’s really helped me to create a much better focus as far as the direction I want to take my professional career in.”

Janay Lima

“I believe that I was able to discover myself and grow professionally, personally, and mentally, too. I was challenged in many ways here at Rutgers, and using Career Services definitely helped me find myself and the goals I wanted to achieve.”

Krupa Shah

“If I could talk to my first-year self, I would tell her to start early. Go to the campus career field trips, go to the drop-in resumé hours before your senior year, and definitely get your personal statement done and reviewed.”

Julia Glace
Still Exploring, School of Arts and Sciences

“Career Services helped me find a job as a first-semester Freshman with no experiences and that’s really going to catapult my career.”

Bernadine Quach
Marketing, Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick

“The Road to Communication and Media program impacted my time at Rutgers because I learned that you can do anything with your major, even if your major is completely different from what you’re trying to pursue.”
